MORE GUESTS TO BE ANNOUNCED SOON!

Overnight Hotel for Con Weekend

Greeting all! I’m pleased to announce that we have secured a deal with a hotel in Denver for those who will need some place to stay overnight during the convention. The convention is still being held at the Tivoli but this will give those attending from out of town or out of state a reasonably priced hotel to stay. The hotel is directly off of the I-25 lightrail line making onsite parking completely optional. The full details are on our Location page.

Vendors Room is Open for Registration

Hello. We are pleased to announce that the Vendors Room is now open for registration. Please use the contact form to let us know that you are interested. If you were not a vendor at the last Anomaly Con, please make sure to provide the following information when contacting us: store/company/artist name, website where you sell or display your items, how many 6 foot tables you need, any other information you would like to share.

A couple of peices of information. We are combining what was our Vendor Room and Artists Alley last year into just one larger room this year which will have fewer obstructions and be much closer to the action. We are also creating a new Exhibition Hall for the display of artwork, but will have more information for you soon. In general, if you would like to sell jewlery, clothing, etc. then the Vendor room is for you.

If you have any questions, feel free to use the contact us link and we’ll do our best to answer any questions you have.

Vendor Registration Coming Soon

Greetings all, we have been busily planning Anomaly Con Year 2! I am pleased to announce that we are nearly ready to start signing up vendors for our new vendors area. We are going to be handling our vendors and artists from last year a little differently. We are combining our Artists and Vendors areas from last year into one larger space. We are opening up registration for the vendors room on June 1st. At that time, we will make another post announcing that registration will be open and you will be able to use our Contact Us form to get a hold of us. If you aren’t a vendor but you know of a vendor you would like to see at Anomaly Con in 2012, you can use the contact form to let us know.

ART CONTEST FOR ANOMALYCON 2012!

AnomalyCon 2012 is looking for artists! We are running an art contest for the tshirt and badge art for 2012. The theme is (naturally) apocalypse. Not post-apocalypse, but what would happen building up and during the disaster. There are endless possibilities for this, especially with a steampunk twist.

Submissions are due in high-def form by June 30, 2011. The winner will receive two free badges to AnomalyCon 2012, as well as a tshirt with their design on it. Send your submissions to us! All submissions become the property of AnomalyCon and cannot be returned.

We will accept separate submissions for tshirt and badge. We reserve the right to use two different artists’ submissions and give them each the prize.

Full color is preferred for the badge but the ideal art for the shirt would look good as white on black or vice versa.
“size” is relative but the image will need to be large enough to look good as a roughly 9×12 image on a tshirt.

Image submission needs to be at least 300dpi

We don’t have any specific “must haves,” except that it needs to in some way reflect Steampunk/scifi and have something reflecting the Apocalypse theme. Some suggestions (which have not been drawn yet) include a Cthulhian man wearing a tophat and spats and carrying a sign that says “The End is Nigh”

You can incorporate AnomalyCon 2012 into the art but it is not necessary. If the winning piece does not have this we will incorporate it. With that in mind, images ideally will be submitted in jpg, png or tiff format (png preferred) to make changing the color/size/adding text easier for us.

Shirt will be black unless the art we choose has to be on a white shirt.

The editing on our end will primarily just include possible orientation changes, sizing, color (to monochromatic or possibly sepia), and adding text if necessary. Ideally we won’t need to do any other editing, and images that need a lot of editing (especially for line cleanup, etc) probably won’t be selected because at that point it isn’t the artist’s original piece anymore.

All artists are allowed to participate, but those outside the US will still have to find their own way to the con to claim their prize.

Submissions should be sent to us with the subject “Art Submission”.

AnomalyCon 2012: Open for Programming, Guest Suggestions, and Sponsors! Also contest!

Did you miss out on AnomalyCon 2011? Excited for 2012?

AnomalyCon 2012 is looking for sponsors–you’ll get fancy billing in our newspaper-style program, promotion on our website, and more! Guaranteed many quality focused hits.

We are also looking for suggestions for guests to bring for 2012–just send us a note on the Contact Us page.

We are also looking for panelists for next year’s con–in 2012 we intend to run 3 tracks of normal panel programming plus one track of hands-on programming, so expect lots of awesome things to come! The theme in 2012 is (what else?) Apocalypse!

AND, AnomalyCon is running an art contest for the tshirt and badge art for 2012. Submissions are due in high-def form by June 30, 2011. The winner will receive two free badges to AnomalyCon 2012, as well as a tshirt with their design on it. Send your submissions soon! All submissions become the property of AnomalyCon and cannot be returned.

Sponsors

The con has been a great success and while panels and the vendors hall continue to run we would like to thank our sponsors for the event:

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS!

This is a bit last-minute, but I have gotten quite a few of these questions.

Q: Are children allowed at the con?
A: Yes, they are allowed, and children under 8 are free. However, there is no child-specific content (although most videos will be G or PG), and any child under the age of 13 must be with an adult at all times.

Q: Will there be teenager-friendly content?
A: This depends on the teenager, of course! Most of our content is rated PG-13 at the most. However, any teenager who has a lot of trouble sitting still for an hour might be bored with much of the panel content.

Q: Are single day tickets sold?
A: Unfortunately, no. Because we are offering weekend tickets for less than most major conventions charge for a single day, we cannot offer single-day passes at this time. We will take this into consideration for next year, however.

Q: Are tickets to just the ball sold?
A: Again, no. The ball (but not the tea) is included with the weekend pass. Tea tickets are sold out.

Q: Can I take pictures?
A: Yes, of course! Please make sure you ask the permission of our special guests before taking pictures of them, and respect the wishes of anyone who asks you not to take their picture.

Q: Can I bring/wear weapons?
A: Realistic modern weapons, replicas and swords are not allowed. Modified nerf guns and weapons that are clearly not a rebuilt real firing weapon are allowed. ALL weapons must be peace-bonded by Operations. Brandishing is not allowed. These are the rules of the Tivoli.

Q: Can I pay with a check for my badge?
A: No. AnomalyCon does not accept checks. It is at the individual vendor’s discretion to accept checks, but there is a fee-free ATM in the Tivoli. That means they don’t charge you to use it (although your bank might still charge a fee).

Q: I have a really cool idea for AnomalyCon 2012! Where can I send it?
A: Please use our contact us form above.

Myles Pinkney

We must regretfully announce that Myles Pinkney has taken ill and will be unable to attend AnomalyCon 2011. We hope to see him back with us next year, and urge you all to send your well wishes via his contact link on his website, mylespinkney.com. His family will still be exhibiting his art for sale in the Artist’s Alley, and all proceeds go to the Myles Pinkney medical fund.
